  • I tried both and found he liked homemade better but who wouldnt that crap in the jars is didgusting and as a result of homemade my son too eat anything you put infront of him. Kel (facebook)

  • I only ever used bought food when we were travelling!! Melissa (facebook)

  • Im going homemade when it comes time for that, its all my mum did for us so its what im used to. I just askd mum for a recipe, her words "just mush the shit together" . Holly (facebook

  • Homemade for us definitely, occasionally used the bought for out and about / travelling when it was just purees but now he eats what we eat... Wendy (facebook)

  • Homemade all the way! I do use jars when I'm out though because my darling girl refuses to eat fresh or tinned fruit..  Danika (facebook)

  • Homemade all the way! My babe luved it. And the same she eats everything. Her favourite was and still is spag bol just they way we eat. A jar of dolmio a can of tomato's and mince with pasta. Then i little cheese on top :) Leanne (facebook)

  • Went both for my first, homemade for the 2nd and deff goin homemade for the 3rd :)  Although i was partial myself to the egg custard, always taste tested anything bought that had dairy in it. i stoped when i had barely a half teaspoon and it ...tasted off - i got food poisining and was sick for 3days!!! Shows how good expiry dates are. Samantha (facebook)

  • I must admit after my 5th child i allowed grandma to give her lots of canned food and none of the others had had much of that, she is a poodle when it comes to food, she would prefer premade than homemade....i reckon don't ever let them have it. Sheryl (facebook)

  • I started both of mine on Farex then Jar food. After 2-3 wks & they got the jist of eating & swallowing properly etc I started home made foods & I generally always use homemade after that with the odd exception. When younger my kids always loved Banana mashed with Avocado or Pumpkin & apple. As they got older they love Roast meat, veg, gravy mixed together, shep pie, spag bol. Both of my kids will eat anything! Tamara (facebook)

  • My little one will only eat homemade! Sometimes i wish he would eat from a jar when we are out, would be easier! Chicken, pumpkin & couscous is a fave! Chantal (facebook)

  • Home made is best.  Sheryl (facebook)

  • Homemade and v occasionally a Raffertys garden when out. She loves the Raffertys garden so I tried to make my purees similar. I found adding banana or apple gives as yummy sweetness. She went off her food and I soon discovered I was too boring and bland. She is now 10 months and is getting much closer to eating the family food. She loves spag bol, noodles and I just gave her some fairly spicy samosa filing I made and she loves it.I try to give her the family food before I add anything she can't eat. Or at least the same veg advent family. This means she gets variety, it's fresh and it's easier for me to make 1 meal with a few variations. Tanya (facebook)

  • If u make homemade, then u knw exactly whats in it!! Holly (facebook)

  • Have you read anything by mrs seinfield.Jerry's mrs...she does some great recepies.  Sheryl (facebook)

  • To the people who say they use jar food for out & about / traveling; why not make up extra meals and freeze them & you can get these little cube things to put them in, that way you're only going home made. :) Sarah (facebook)

  • I make homemade but at the moment I'm camping so she is having the raffertys garden only because I have no safe way of storing/ heating homemade veggies but she defiantly prefers homemade. Tamara (facebook)

  • Its seems like spag bol is always a hit with my little man i pack it full with vegetables, i find he is always having so many different meals he loves his vegetable and eating with his hands! I love to see him appreciate fresh fruit and vagetables and he loves chicken and other meat.. he is also mostly eating what we eat these days which is great.. :) Sarah (facebook)

  • Best book for homemade is 'feeding your baby and toddler' by Annabel Karmel. Has recipes from weaning to age 7 and even tells you all the vitamins and some great family recipes in it too:-) Rebecca (facebook)

  • My son is 18months old now and eats whatever we eat, so there's no need for seperate meals anymore, but I used to make 90% of his food myself, I googled baby recipes and found heaps of good recipes on the internet but the ones my son seemed to like best were just the very simple ones, like just banana mashed up! I only used raffertys garden for when we were out for dinner but when we were only out for a few hours I'd take (in little containers) just mashed fruit for him, as then there was no need for heating them up. Stephanie (facebook)

  • I am currently giving my 6mth old mainly jar food and I am 100% a ok about that! Once she gets the hang of it abit more I will introduce more homemade items... thats what works for us! But theres loads of lovely recipes to find all over the net!  Penns (facebook)

  • I did homemade for my first (son), and premade stuff for my second. I used premade stuff with my daughter due to time commitments and not wanting to have to sterilise all the containers, ice block trays, bowls etc. I only had to sterilise spoons, and recycle all the jars.

  • We only used the jars that had single pure ingredients, no mixtures. It was easy. My 2yo daughter is pretty well vegetarian. She will try most things, but doesn't seem to like meat. Susan (facebook)

  • I have that book rebecca its great! Sarah (facebook)

  • I have a advent steamer processor i splashed out a little and bought it but seeing as i make all food at home i think ive saved alot of money..my son loves different fruits blended with baby yogurt and i add apple and sultana cereal to it blend it all to a consistancy where i can still tell ingredients apart and i freeze this in container and defrost in fridge the night before.. Its a great summer lunch. Sarah (facebook)

  • Home made.... The only thing I buy is the Heinz Gel (like jelly)... I tried bought food as a back up with my 1st born and he hated it... And he loved the combinations that I made up buy steaming them and using a hand held bar mixer to blend... it the texture that was for his age and froze it in ice cube trays and used what was needed... Very quick and easy to make your own baby food, also you know what goes into them.. And for my 2nd born well she is almost 4 months and I am thinking of starting her on rice cereal in the next week or so....Nicole (facebook)

  • I'm doing the same as you Penns Offerings, at the moment im giving my 6 month old manly jar food until she figures out how to get most of the food in her month. I have made a few things manly fruit and some vegies. I am looking for some ideas on what else to feed her. Kelly (facebook)

  • Definitely homemade, occasionally raffertys when out, he would never look at the heinz jars and to be honest they have this yuck processed smell about them, i wouldnt want to eat them either! Our boy now eats anything & everything - makes life much easier :-) Rachel (facebook)

  • Homemade all the way, no preservatives and i know exactly what is in there, and is by far CHEAPER. healthier and cheaper can't get better then that. my husband found this great book and i swear by it, its called Frost bite by Susan Austin. it has recipes from first foods right up to teenager and my now 17 month old daughter loves all the meals i make from there i haven't had one failure. and the good thing is, that my husband eats them as well so meals good for the whole family.
