Circumcision |
|
Should I circumcise my baby boy and if not what do I do to keep his penis clean?
- yup its a self cleaning body part much like the eyelid
- I think that a foreskin is there for a reason and I would want my son to make his own choice. That's just my opinion. My little guy isn't circumsized. And there really isn't any care for an uncircumsized newborn. You don't retract the foreskin at all. Just wipe around it to clean it
- Ask this question on "the guggie daily" Facebook page as the women / men on there are very informed.
- i had my son done as his father was and the is a medical condition on my side of family yes it mayb painful 4 them it only last bout 3 mins n then hes ok at the end of the day its ur choice
- We got my son done at 7 weeks. The docs told us they preffered to do them in the first week but will do them up until 12 weeks. We got him does because my partner and his other 2 sons are done and didnt want going "mummy why does mine look different". Its really a personel decision as to you getting it done or not
- I think that unless it is necessary for medical reasons or religious reasons then there isn't really a need for circumcision. My son isn’t circumcised and I only actually know 1 male who is (in my circle of family and friends) and he cops a lot of bullying from his mates...i think that the bullying is childish but its still something to consider.
- It is proven not to have any effect on cancer or STD's... we have a daughter but did all the research during pregnancy so had made our decision either way. It's pain and potential infection for no medical reason, and the big issue for me is, it's their body. Not mine, not my decision to make. Cutting off part of a penis is a pretty big thing to do without consent, which a newborn can't give
- If you unfolded an average mans foreskin it would be about the size of a postcard. Clearly not just a little snip - it removes most of the skin on the penis which includes nerve endings too, which contribute to sexual intercourse being more enjoyable.

- I'm not sure if your aware that you can get your child done under a general anesthetic by a pediatric surgeon. With private health cover you are looking at around $600 out of pocket including the hospital stay (day surgery), surgeons time and anesthetists time. Generals of course have their own risks, but I think it's a good alternative to being awake. You also don't need to get done as a newborn and can wait a little longer I.e 7 months as it will often (this information was from a surgeon not hearsay) provide a better cosmetic result. If you want to know more about the procedure speak to your Peadiatrician. Most peads these days will not provide referrals to surgeons if your wanting to do for cleanliness reasons. They will generally only agree for religious reasons and if dad, brothers or other male family members are already done.
